The architectural firm of Robinson, Carrick Associates Ltd. Has been responsible for some of Canada’s most stimulating, challenging and admired courses. Tearing the whole course apart and starting from scratch, The Mandarin Golf and Country Club was opened in 1991. It was the brainchild of four Hong Kong-born businessmen, each of whom had been based in Canada for almost 20 years.
The club as described by designer Doug Carrick was characterized as a “modernized version of the old classic style of golf courses built in the 1920’s and 30’s. Modest sized, gently rolling greens surrounded by flowing, sculpted bunkers set the framework for the course.
Generous fairways defined by strategic bunkering and open green entrances provide challenge and interest for the expert player, yet offer a very playable and enjoyable experience for the majority of members”.
